How to Register: If you meet the registration qualifications, then you may complete a voter registration form and return it to your county board of elections no later than 25 days before an election in order to be eligible to vote in that election. In NC, you can also register and vote during the One-Stop Registration & Absentee Voting period, which begins 19 days before the election and runs until the last Saturday before the election. Q: Where do students who attend college in North Carolina register to vote?
A: Students may register to vote in the community where they are attending
school, so long as they declare that their home is the community where they
are attending school and they don’t register to vote elsewhere. Or students
may register to vote in a different community as long as they consider it to
be their home residence.
Q: Do ex-felons need to show a special document that permits them to register to
vote?
A: No. Ex-felons have their citizenship rights automatically restored after they
have fully completed their sentence, including probation, parole and postrelease supervision; however, they must re-register in order to vote.
Q: Can 17 year-olds register to vote and even vote in a primary if they will be 18
on or before the date of the general election?
A: Yes; however, while they will be permitted to vote in a primary, they
cannot vote on any referenda until they are 18.
Q: Although I am not a U.S. citizen, I am a legal resident, can I register to vote?
